Our Voices, Our Community, Our Recovery!

Mission & Vision of Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery

At Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery (SVVOR), our mission is to be the collective voice for recovery in Illinois's Lee, Whiteside, DeKalb, and Ogle counties. As a non-profit Recovery Community Organization (RCO), we advocate on behalf of all individuals impacted by alcoholism and substance use disorder throughout the Sauk Valley region. We aim to foster a supportive environment that encourages, promotes, and sustains a healthy and fulfilling recovery journey for everyone.

Our vision is a community where individuals in recovery are empowered, connected, and actively supported through inclusive, healthy, and sustainable recovery practices. We aim to break down barriers, reduce stigma, and create an ecosystem where multiple paths to recovery are embraced, allowing each person to find their unique way to wellness.

About SVVOR: Supporting All Paths to Recovery

SVVOR is dedicated to strengthening the recovery community by providing activities, resources, and advocacy for individuals impacted by alcoholism and substance use disorder. We recognize that there is no single approach to recovery, and we actively support all methods, including 12-Step programs, therapy, religious paths, and other modalities. Our sole purpose is to be a vital support network for recovery activities, meetings, and outreach initiatives in our region, standing as a reliable resource for those on their journey to sobriety.

How We Support the Recovery Community:

  1. Recreation and Education Events: Each month, we organize events that bring joy, connection, and learning to the recovery community. These gatherings are more than just social occasions; they help individuals rediscover fun in sobriety, build sober relationships, and embrace healthier lifestyles.

  2. Monthly Newsletter:  Our newsletter serves as a bridge across the recovery community, keeping people informed, connected, and engaged. By sharing news, resources, and stories, we aim to foster communication among support groups, institutional stakeholders, and people in recovery.

  3. Outreach Programs: Our team is deeply involved in outreach, working directly with newcomers, participating in local boards, and speaking at schools to spread awareness and understanding about recovery. We’re here to reach out, provide a helping hand, and advocate for lasting change.

  4. Advocacy: SVVOR champions the needs and rights of the recovery community, advocating for policies and practices that support sustained recovery and improve access to essential services.

  5. Resource Navigation: We assist individuals in locating treatment options and essential resources, recognizing that connecting people to the right support is key to initiating and maintaining their recovery.

SVVOR is committed to being a welcoming space for everyone in the recovery community. We are not affiliated with any single recovery philosophy or pathway; instead, we encourage each individual to find the method that best supports their wellness journey. We believe that recovery is achievable for all and strive to be a trusted resource for those seeking help, support, and connection within our community.
